Our Story

How it all started...

Calvary Chapel Heartland began in August of 1996, as a home Bible study. This group of folks sought to follow God and plant a Calvary Chapel in the middle Georgia area and began prayerfully seeking God’s will on the matter; at the same time a fireman from California was also burdened of the Lord to plant a CC work somewhere in the Southeast.

God worked it out so that the two connected, and Steve Sandoval made a trip to meet this group and as they fellowshipped, studied and worshipped together. God made abundantly clear, that in fact, it was His will to plant a Calvary Chapel in the Heartland of Georgia.

So on April 17th of 1997, Steve moved to middle GA; his family followed later. On Sunday morning, May 4th, 1997, this small group started Calvary Chapel Heartland at Northside Elementary in Warner Robins, GA. Meeting each week, setting up and tearing down the auditorium for services, people came who were seeking the Lord and who were hungry to hear the Word of God taught chapter by chapter and verse by verse as Calvary Chapels do; Simply teaching the Bible, simply.

Expanding the vision...

Many years have passed since that humble beginning, and over the years, many have come seeking God’s leading and direction in their lives. God has used many people to carry out the work of the Lord here at CC Heartland.

Often, just in time, God will meet a specific need by sending a specific person, that perfectly fit a need that exists. At Heartland, we have witnessed this many times over.

Currently, we see God actively working in the lives of believers at CC Heartland. We see the Spirit move, as we worship together and together seek God. We are blessed with a special unity of the Spirit and fellowship at Calvary Chapel Heartland!

Where we are headed...

Just as God has given us the vision to "Love God" and to "Love People." Jesus has commanded us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit [ESV]."

Our challenge is just that; show forth the love of God to people, drawing as many as will to come to Him, to choose Him as Lord and Savior, so that they may become disciples of Christ! This is the continual vision for CCH.
